NORTH KOREA RELEASES HYEON LIM

A Canadian pastor freed from a North Korean prison on humanitarian grounds is healthy and not in critical condition, his family said on Thursday. Hyeon Soo Lim, who served in one of the largest churches in Canada, had been sentenced to hard labor for life in December 2015 after North Korea accused him of attempting to overthrow the regime. On Wednesday, North Korea’s KCNA news agency said he was released on “sick bail.” Lim is expected to return to Canada later on Thursday, a source familiar with the matter said on…

KNOWLEDGE

Psalm 119:11 says “Your word have I hidden in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Many contemporaries of Daniel may have looked back at their experiences and their losses and determined to start a completely new way of life away from home with no hope of returning to Judah. What therefore may have given them assurance and kept them obedient to God’s word? It was KNOWLEDGE among other things. Daniel 1:17 says: As for these four young men, God gave them KNOWLEDGE and skill in all literature…

PROPHECIES AND PROPHETS OF OLD

Prophecies in the Old Testament weren’t accurate. Prophets were classified according to the magnitude of the revelation of Christ they prophesied. So we had major Prophets (who wrote a lot about Christ) and minor prophets. Prophets in the Old Testament spoke in parables, types and shadows. They themselves hardly understood what they said. Prophets in the Old Testament never had the indwelling of the Spirit, but temporary visitations. So you read stuff like; I was in the Spirit, the word of the Lord came to me, the hand of the…

THE CHURCH USHER’S VITAL PRIESTLY ROLE: How the keepers of God’s house show us his welcome.

Credit: Derek Rishmawy. Ushers have long occupied a place of solemn glory in the church—and by “usher,” I don’t simply mean “door greeter” (though these men and women are valuable servants as well). I’m talking about the old-school troop of reverend men who show up in suits every Sunday, keep watch at the sanctuary doors, and—in hushed tones and with sure gestures—direct you to your seat in the house of the Lord. I suppose part of the reason for my sense of awe at ushers is that my dad was…

Although her parents, Nathel and Maxine Tait, taught her and her siblings the love of Christ very early on, Lynda still experienced a tumultuous and painful childhood. Despite being led to the Lord at the young age of 12, it would be years later before…

MEN WITH EAGLES’ EYES: WITNESSING IN THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going” Eccl. 9:10 (NKJV) Sight is one of the unique qualities of an Eagle. DARKNESS UPON THE DEEP: A Study- Part 2

“… and darkness was on the face of the deep…2c. It is important to note once more that the darkness did not cover just any form of water but the deep! Deep is not a mere water. It’s a large volume of water both in length, width and height. By nature the deep accommodates all forms of aquatic beings, meant to enrich man. Besides, they do not live in the surface water otherwise, they become prey to man. It takes an industrious, competent and willing person to farm and make…

DARKNESS UPON THE DEEP: A Study- Part 1

GENESIS 1: 1-3 Jewel is not an open-market commodity. Its beauty lies in its pricelessness so, it’s not cheaply displayed. Those who place value on it finds it. The truth is parallel to mineral resources. They are hid under the ground. It takes extra effort to uncover them. Man must understand that God is not being wicked in keeping these resources from mere surface. He rather intends that His image is industrious and creative like himself. Moreover, He is interested in our effort to discover the provisions He has made…
